What is cryptozoology you ask?  It is the search for hypothesized animals, or animals that are believed to be extinct.   Those who research the field, or cryptozoologists can come from different walks of life.  Some strive for legitimacy, while others are respected scientists in other fields.  The field is mostly considered pseudoscience by mainstream biologists and zoologists.

The animals studied are referred to as cryptids.  Famous crypitds include the Loch Ness Monster, Bigfoot,  and others.
